The Escalade Hybrid is the best way for environmentally conscious customers to get their luxury SUV with out sacrificing quality. The Cadillac Escalade Hybrid seats up to eight. The Cadillac Escalade Hybrid is the only full size SUV with a 2 mode hybrid powertrain on the market. Due to its 2 mode hyrbrid powertrain, the Escalade Hybrid recieves 50 percent better fuel efficiency in city driving and 40 percent increase overall.

The 2 mode hybrid powertrain integrates the brand’s Vortec 6.0-L V-8 with GM’s EVT transmission. The four gear transmission is aided by two electric motors.GM’s Active Fuel Management System in the V8 shuts down 4cylinders in light load conditions to save fuel.The gasoline engine shuts off at stops or when idoling but restarts when needed, while the electric motor allows the engine to run in a 4 cylider mode more often.

With light throttle, the electric motors can propel the New Cadillac Escalade up to 30 mph, but together the electric motor and gasoline engine produce 332 hp and 367lb.ft. of torque.  A 300 volt battery pack is located under the second row seats and powers the electric motors, as well as the electric power steering system and electrically driven air conditioning compressor; regenerative braking will charge the batteries. Front and all wheel drive options are available for the Escalade Hybrid.Although it would be awesome to have the hybrid powertrain in all trims of the Escalade, it only comes available in the standard length.

As far as towing capability, the new Cadillac Escalade will be rated to tow up to 6000 pounds with rear wheel drive and 5700 pounds with all wheel drive.The Hybrid has an 8 inch touch screen with a hybrid drive system which informs the driver what mode the SUV is driving in. The Hybrid comes with an economy guage, which has green and red bars to represent which zones drivers should drive in to get the best mpg.There is also an Auto Stop reader on the tachometer that indicates when the gasoline engine is off.
