Save the Planet (and Money!) with the Ego Electric Street Scoota
The state of the planet - it’s on everybody’s mind. Global warming, pollution, the price of petrol. It’s never far from the news headlines.
You drive your expensive, gas guzzling car to the petrol station and as you stand there watching the numbers go ever upwards, a sense of frustration fills your mind.
Not only do you want to do your bit to help save the planet, you want to break free from the chains of the petrochemical industry. What can one do? That Hybrid car is way out of your price range, and ultimately they still use some petrol. And those Teslas, very cool, but again, not cheap.
Well, if it’s a simple case of getting around town, how about investing a not too significant amount of your savings on an Electric Scooter?
The Ego Electric Street Scoota was launched about a year ago and proved a real hit, especially in citie and towns.
It’s practically silent, with a very cool sci-fi whine as it accelerates. It emits no fumes and is 99% less polluting than the cleanest fossil fuel powered vehicles (Source: Environmental Protection Agency)
In the UK you won’t have to pay road tax or congestion charges, and if you had a full license before 2001 you don’t even need L plates.
Most people who try the Scoota are impressed, it can hold a steady 30mph and gives a sure and comfortable ride. City driving is a breeze, pot holes and speed bumps pose no obstacle.
But where it really comes into it’s own is in the financial savings. At the moment the Ego Scoota is available in the UK at a special price of £699.95 - a saving of £300, (offer ends Sept 31st 2009).
A single eight hour charge will cost you a mere 10 pence (20 cents) and will be good for a 40 mile journey. Plus, with more and more recharging points appearing in cities, you can always top up en route. That wouldn’t get you to the next station on the underground. Used regularly, the Scoota will have paid for itself in no time.
Overall, the Scoota handles well, as well as any regular Scooter, and the looks and smiles you get are often worth the price alone.
